Biography of Professor Mark C. M van Loosdrecht
Professor Mark C. M van Loosdrecht received his PhD in microbiology/colloid chemistry from Wageningen University in 1988. Since then he has been working at the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands in the Department of Biotechnology. Since 2008 he is also associated to the KWR Watercycle Research Institute. His interests are in the field of biological environmental processes with special focuses on biofilms systems, nutrient removal and resource recovery. Over the years several new processes have been developed and turned into full scale or pilot scale applications (Sharon, BCFS, Anammox, Biofilm airlift reactor, Aerobic granular sludge, BABE process, SANI, and Ferritin). He is the editor-in-chief for Water Research. He has been elected fellow of the Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the Dutch Academy of Engineering. He received the Grand Award from IWA and obtained an honorary doctorate from the ETH-Zurich.

马克•梵•洛斯德莱特(Mark van Loosdrecht)教授,荷兰皇家科学院(KNAW)院士。1988年获瓦格宁根大学环境生物技术博士学位,博士毕业后即加盟荷兰代尔夫特理工大学(TU Delft)国际著名Kluyver生物技术实验室由J.J.Heijnen教授所领导的环境生物技术工艺研发组。从2008年开始,他加盟了KWR水循环研究机构。他的研究兴趣主要集中在生物处理工艺中的生物膜工艺,脱氮除磷工艺以及生物处理工艺中资源的回收利用。他在生物处理工艺的深入研究过程中开发了一系列崭新的生物处理工艺,如:短程硝化(SHARON), 可持续除磷脱氮工艺(BCFS), 厌氧氨氧化(ANAMMOX), 生物膜流化床反应器(Biofilm airlift reactor), 好氧颗粒污泥技术(Aerobic granular sludge), 侧流富集/主流强化硝化工艺(BABE process), SANI和Ferritin。这些工艺目前都分别发展为小试系统或已经投入工业应用。他是国际著名专业学术期刊《Water Research》(水研究)的总主编,并被选为荷兰艺术与科学院及荷兰工程院双院士。他曾获得了IWA国际水协首届大奖,并被瑞士苏黎世联邦理工学院(ETH-Zurich)授予了荣誉博士的称号。
